The rudder and keel are ready to be installed.
The keel and rudder are ready to go. The rudder weighs 7 lbs. and the keel 417 lbs. The rudder is a state-of-the-art, super strong foam filled laminate. The keel is lead with six 1/2" stainless steel bolts.
The Wyliecat unstayed rig is assembled.
These are the unique components that really set the Wyliecat apart from the competition All of the rig hardware is very lightweight; the 27-foot mast weights only 18 lbs., the wishbone 8 lbs. The entire rig including the sail with full battens, halyard, reef, and sheet is only 42 pounds. Less weight aloft, combined with a deep bulb keel, makes the Wyliecat 17 stable, fast and fun!

The lines running up the mast adjust the wishbone fore and aft, allowing the draft of the sail to be made fuller or flatter.

  The completed Wyliecat 17.
The completed boat sits on her trailer. This particular boat was built for a customer in the Dominican Republic, so it was carefully packed up and put into a shipping container for the trip to the Caribbean.
